People chose to be married in church for all different reasons, but no matter the reason it must be remembered that marriage takes place because two people love each other enough to commit themselves to spend the rest of their life with each other and that love is something that is God's gift to them. A wedding service is the first opportunity to celebrate and give thanks for the love that has brought the two together. The promises made before God, friends and family are solemn promises and in agreeing to commit to each other Bride and Groom are asking God to deepen and strengthen their love relationship.
If you do not agree with any of that then perhaps you should be looking at being married by a Registrar and not a minister. If you agree with some of it, or all of it but do not understand why, then it is right that you should be married in church.
The Allan Church is a nice setting for wedding and over the years many Brides and Grooms have made use of the church. Our organist Mrs Moyra McCall is only to happy to assist those who want help in selecting the appropriate music for the Bride to arrive and walk down the isle to, hymns to be sung during the service itself and music for the new Mr and Mrs to walk down the isle to for the first time as husband and wife.
The photographs below from 2005-2006 give an indication as to the various settings that the minister has conducted weddings in.
